St Giles Wembley, Penang

We visited Penang in August as part of our yearly obligation trip with the grannies. Here's our first post on Kidland Penang , a similar educational playground concept as Kidzania and BabyBoss in Taipei. Today, we are going to share about the hotel we picked for this trip. While I very much preferred a resort at Batu Ferringhi, where we can just "nua" and "lepak" all day. But, we know the grannies will get bored. So, a city hotel in Georgetown was the choice.

Jonas' birth story - an overdue post

Image
Note: This post was first published on 28 May 2012, almost 2 weeks after J was born. When I agreed to jump onto the " Birth Stories " blog train by Owl's Well, I thought it will be nice to re-hash this story by adding in tidbits of information which we left out previously, as well as add in more pictures which I refused to share at first. Birth stories are really meant to be remembered. So, why not just jazz this post up right?  New edits are in red!   ****** We sometimes have to be careful with what we wish for. In my previous post, I mentioned I wished Dr Fong would order me to the hospital during my last visit with him. He did exactly that on 12 May 2012! ( I was due a week later. And, this was really my 39th week. While I was feeling all heavy and tired, I was hoping to enjoy our final week as a couple before J came. Both the man and I took leave a week earlier. Alas! J was too eager to join us!)

One of the things I wanted to do this year is to take my tools out and start working on craft that I am best at. And .... I did. All it takes is a little inspiration.

Cosmic Kidland Penang

Fun in Penang for Kids  Did you know that Penang has their very own version of Kidzania? Well, not surprised if tourists don't know this as it is housed in the most unkid-like location. Kidland Penang sits on the 4th and 5th storey at Pragnin Mall, which is like our Sim Lim here in Singapore.

Friso: Experience More Together

[Sponsored] Most of you, my followers know that I am a huge advocate of outdoor play. Due to our busy schedules, the amount of time the man and I have with the kid is limited. So we try to always make sure we are out and about during family time. However, going outdoors isn't always possible for many reasons. Like the recent haze for example, and times when I get really lazy and just want to lounge around at home in my PJs and messy hair. At times like these, it helps to have fun stuff to keep us occupied as a family at home. This came quite late at night. I was actually very excited, so much so that I wanted to wake the boy up. I know he would be thrilled because he has been asking for a slide at home when he saw one at his cousin's house.

Spurbox: Home-learning resource for busy parents

Helping my child to learn at home with Spurbox's P-skool Subscription box.  PS. This is not a sponsored post!  This Spurbox came in the mail!  At 3 years old, J's childcare teachers have been telling us that he seems more advanced than his peers. J often finds activities in school either boring or somewhat lacking challenge.

Current state of mind

Today, as I write this in the still of the night, my tears are flowing. I am a crybaby alright! I always see my tears as a weakness, so I always try to hide them behind a smile. However, like the clouds, there are days when the tears just cannot be held back any longer and they flow like the rain. Earlier this year, I was promoted. It was, to me, a recognition of the sacrifices I have made and the decision I took to continue working even with a child. More so for leaving a job I so loved, to an industry I had at that time, no idea of what it stands for.
