5 things I love about you

Dearest J, Firstly, let mummy apologise for not writing this letter any earlier. I wanted to get this done before your 4th birthday. By now, you would have known that mummy has gone through quite a little bit of drama to get you a sibling over the month of May. Hence, this came only now. I am sorry at this point, mummy and papa will not be able to promise that you will have a brother or sister. That said, we want you to know we will never stop loving you. And, no amount of drama we went through would make us love you any less.

About the 4th birthday party

Image
Birthday parties for the past 3 years have always been quite a taboo in our little family. Other than J's full month party which he probably remembered nothing about, every other party we tried to organise never quite materialized. We finally managed to pull off a party this year! I hope he does not ask for one every year though .  His first birthday was cancelled 2 days before the party day because he got his first HFMD. For his second birthday, we wanted a small do with some friends. That got cancelled too because he had a drippy nose. So for his third, we decided to do without a party.

May 2015 - A month to be grateful

The month of May has always been our favorite month of each year. Almost all the important events of our lives since we got married happened in May. This means we always plan big things... celebration type things, during the month.  So you can imagine how busy we were this month.

Happy 3rd Birthday

In a blink of an eye, this boy who used to be a pudgy burger face is now a 1m tall, a super motor mouth and extremely generous boy. At 3 years old, I cannot believe how much he knows and how much love he has to give. This year, we decided we will not have any big birthday do for him since it seemed rather jinx in the previous years.

Staycation at Amara Sanctuary Resort, Sentosa

Before we had J, we always try to do something special on our birthdays, which usually ends up to be a short trip to some nearby destination. This year, we thought we should start exploring staycations. Relatively fuss free and we can spend quality time as a family of 3 exploring Singapore from the eyes of our 2 year old.

An Elmo Birthday Party (sort of)

Image
This year, we planned for an Elmo / Sesame Street birthday party for J both in school and at home because he is crazy over Elmo. He needs to have his Elmo wherever he goes these days. It is such a sight seeing him bring this stuffed creature around. So, once again, the parties did not really go as planned . But,  it is still nice to share what we did to bring the theme to life. The Cake We picked a fresh cream strawberry shortcake for all his friends in school. The cake was from Naomi Kitche n, a bakery that's run by a couple who started their business from a tiny food stall at Golden Mile food centre to  a shop unit at Crawford Lane. The cake we ordered had a nice, light and fluffy sponge with cream that's not too sweet.  The room of 24 toddlers definitely loved it as there was none left, and the happiest had to be the birthday boy who today still asks for his "Elmo cake"! The Goodie Bag We wanted to include some of Elmo's fa

The 2nd Birthday Celebration

Image
After last year's birthday party cancellation , we were praying hard that J will be able to have a proper celebration this year. We planned for an Elmo themed party both in school and at home. The home party was meant to be a small and cozy affair with just family and close friends. So, when we heard that J's classmate had hfmd just 10 days before his birthday, we took him out of school immediately. We didn't want to disappoint the little fellow when he was looking forward to the day his friends will sing the birthday song to him. He even practised singing,  complete with a clap and blowing of candles. Super cute right this boy?! It wasn't quite the right time to be juggling work and a "stay-at-home-kid" as it was an ultra busy period at  for me with a mega event , an advertising campaign and other projects on hand. Not to mention, we were actually on another cycle of SO-IUI. So, no surprises on guessing what happened after all these. Well, mummy&

Happy 34th Papa

We just came back from our short getaway to celebrate the man's birthday as well as just to take some time away from work. It was a fabulous trip, and J was surprisingly cooperative. Albeit only two nights, we had lots of fun. Just 3 of us. More on the trip coming up soon, but here's the birthday boy and his mini-me. "Happy Birthday my love! Although you drive me up the wall all the time, I always appreciate your presence, and how you make me feel special. " Love this retro looking cake. Taste very traditional too!  Someone was obviously more keen on the cake than having his picture taken. Linking up with:

About the first birthday

Image
Most parents would plan their kiddo's first birthday way in advance. Well, not only first birthdays... many other birthdays thereafter as well. We were no different. I blogged about this many times, where planning started more than 2 months ago. Then the unexpected happened. J came down with HFMD just 2 days before the party. Everything came to a halt, and we had to scramble to ensure what's been ordered were either cancelled with the least penalty, or that they found themselves better places to go to: - Food catered was sent to a Home for the Aged. I think this was the best decision we made during this episode. Just a simple treat made the day of many Ah-Gongs and Ah-Pors. It made our day as well amidst trying to baby-handle the sick and fussy J.  - Postponed the yummilicious cake. We ordered the birthday cake from Missus BonBon, and specified that we wanted a jungle safari theme, to the colours of my blog. Not the usual colours for a safari, hence it would

#1 - The week in pictures

Took a day off the public holiday (which also happened to be my 33rd Birthday) to make the weekend an extra long one. Started the long weekend spending time with Hwa. We lounged by the pool and went for a good dim sum... simply just spending quality time together. Something we have not done for a long time. We had a blast with the kiddo at the zoo and the mini celebration at home, although I have to admit I was disappointed that many peops dropped out of the party. Felt left out of sorts... but as I spent time in the company of my family and bestie, I could not be more thankful for the precious folks in my life. On 24 May...we decided to be spontaneous and take a trip down to the Zoo! J's first time. :) I was excited to engage him with the sights and sounds of the Zoo.  Sussing out his surroundings ...and he gets off the stroller ...deciding what he should do next ...pulling me along while he shops Sharing a moment with Papa while taking shelte
