Like most boys, our energetic little imp has a thing for vehicles. Vehicles of all shapes and sizes! From those mini Tomica ones to huge motorised ones. Our house is filled with vehicles of all types and all sizes. Not too long ago, J will always insist on having his haircut at QB House at VivoCity because he knows we will let him take a spin on those paid motorised rides near the playground. There are times when we are so tempted to get one for him, but if you look around at local toy shops, they can be very costly. Some can go up to about $400, so that's why for a long time we willingly pay for him to have his 10min of fun at these play places.

Week in life of a blogging mum

Image
I started blogging more than 10 years ago, more to rant about daily ups and downs. Basically things that got me riled up and when I need an avenue to let it all out.  Then, it progressed to using the blog and different networks to help me do my day job as a marketer better, till I became a mother. This space slowly turned into our trove of memories.  We had a difficult time conceiving J, and he will likely be our only child. Hence, it is understandable that we want to create as much memories as we can so he is able to refer to this when he is older.   So. How do I keep up with all the recording?

Kaohsiung - Fit for kids (Part 1)

Image
Let's visit Ciaotou Sugar Refinery and Cijin Island Kaohsiung is the second largest city in Taiwan, after Taipei, and is the apparently the most densely populated city in the country.  Scoot expanded their route to include Kaohsiung as a direct destination from Singapore last year, and that makes Scoot one of the 2 airlines (the other being China Airlines) to fly direct from Singapore.  If you prefer to explore different parts of Taiwan like ourselves, using Kaohsiung as a base could be an option, away from the hustle bustle of modern Taiwan. Best part is, Kaohsiung takes about 3.5 hours to get to, almost 40 min less if you choose to fly into Taipei from Singapore.  Traditionally an industrial area, you will still see hints of its history as you travel in and around the city. Despite the commercial nature of the city, Kaohsiung has its charm, and interesting sights for the family.  I am covering a few places where you can visit if you are in town over 2 posts. (

Mindfulness at the workplace

The weeks back at the office after CNY was nothing but stressful. Hands up those who feel the way I do right now!  I could really use some relaxing yoga session or the likes.  Of course, stress is all part and parcel of work isn't it? However, have you ever sometimes reflected on your day and realised how you handled a particular situation could be the cause of your stress? Maybe it's a case of speaking too much too soon? Maybe it is all relative to other events in happening in your life.

Protect your bed with "Therm-a-Sleep"

J has been toilet trained ages ago. I don't even remember when was the time he started to go without diapers during the day. Well, but the night time situation isn't so rosy.  Although he still sleeps with diapers, accidents happen and is becoming more frequent. Maybe it is because he consumes very much more water these days.  You can imagine when he wets his pants, the bed is never spared. We needed to find a better way to protect our mattress, otherwise it means we will need to throw out our mattress soon!

Social Media and Your Career

Image
Social media has become very much a way of life for many of us. As a marketer, the advent of social media is superb, opening up many avenues for us to reach out to our target audience, at a fraction of the cost as opposed to spending on traditional advertising media. Most importantly, it allows for tracking of performance. You know that all important ROI discussions we have in the office, and more so the justifying of marketing spends. Ever since I helped set-up the Facebook page for my then employer some 7 years back, I never looked back.  Social media has and will always be part of my integrated marketing plans. It has also become a part of my life, evident from how I also evolved to be a parent blogger. I am one who cannot get past a day without checking my Instagram, Facebook and Dayre accounts, and the number of platforms I have accounts on is numerous. There are probably some which I have already forgotten about. As my colleague puts it, I have quite an activ

Legend Hotel, Kaohsiung - Taiwan Family Holiday

We just returned from our year end vacation, and no prizes for guessing where we ended at! For the second time in 2015, we visited Taiwan, and I can shout out loud that I love that country very much. With the vast open spaces and lush greenery, as well as the almost endless coastal scenery, I cannot get enough of Taiwan. There's still so much for us to explore and I am very sure we will be back there very soon. This time, we went southwards flying into Kaohsiung instead of Taipei. For the uninitiated, Kaohsiung is at the south-western part of Taiwan, very close to the southern tip, and it is the second most populous city after Taipei. In the past, the only direct flight from Singapore to Kaohsiung is on China Airlines. Most recently, our local budget carrier Scoot started flying this route, and we love it because it takes almost an hour less if we flew into Taipei. Best for my J who hates long plane rides. More about Kaohsiung coming on the blog in the weeks to come. Here&#
