[Phuket Travel] Novotel Resort Surin

With J's condition heading in the right direction, we wanted to take on a holiday to celebrate his birthday (which was 2 months ago! LOL!)

J learns by experience, hence we prefer to take him on trips versus buying him gifts. We stopped the travelling for a while, and were more than happy we made this holiday happen sooner than we had expected.

This was my 4th trip to Phuket, and I wanted to stay at a beach other than Patong, away from the sometimes rowdy crowd.

By now, you guys probably can tell, I prefer a little bit more peace and quiet when it comes to holiday accomodation choice.

After doing some research and at recommendations from friends, we decided on Surin Beach.

More accurately, we were attracted by the water slides the property had which we know will be an adrenaline rush for J. So, we settled for Surin beach although I read about how much that area has changed due to some beach cleaning up project.

That's the amazing slides that is bound to keep the kids occupied throughout the day. We spent a considerable amount of time here.

That said, I was still hopeful the area will be self sufficient, only to realise it may not quite suit us because the man still need some form of shopping activity, but that's just us!

After some digging around, this was originally a Hilton Doubletree and only recently got taken over by Novotel. Situated right in front of the beach, it was nicely placed only if there was more beach front activities.

That said, we enjoyed the facilities nonetheless.

The life saver for parents.

There was also a small scale indoor playground on the second storey of the Kid's club

Novotel Resort Surin is a full service resort that's 100% family friendly, so much so, there's really no need to leave the resort if your holiday intention is just to "lepak" aka "lounge around and do nothing."  If you need a break from the kids, you can leave them at the kids club or at the daily movie screenings.

Perfect for some adult time alone.

The room and the food however left more to be desired.  When I did the research before booking, I was hoping to land ourselves with the renovated rooms. Then, when we arrived, we were told we got upgraded to the suite which was a pleasant surprise.

They converted the living room of the suite into a room just for J. Ok la, I have to admin, service is fantastic despite my grouse on the general state of the room.

The suite came with a semi private patio.
Oh, and another nice touch to engage the little guest because all guests are important.

The suite was huge, but turned out to be rather tired, and came with a stale smell if the air-conditioning wasn't turned on.

It didn't bother us tremendously because the plan really was to spend most of our days outdoors, so we made do.

All in all, Novotel definitely lives up to its reputation of being pro-family.  The spa at the Surin Beach resort has an affordable and very good too.

While I am not sure if I will stay at Surin Beach again, but the Novotel Group has perhaps come up as one of my preferred choice for my next few travels, if any!

The other super sweet gesture. I requested for a cake, and was prepared to pay for this. But they made it with so much effort at absolutely no cost! Thank you Novotel1
