Things are looking pretty good

Dropping in for a quick update on whats up with the burger family lest some of you think we have vanished from this space. :)

The past one month has been busy busy busy. Lots of changes and adjustments (stressful too) but happy to say the least.

Here's what we have been up to:

Settling Jonas at infantcare - Well, yes. We decided just a month before I am due back to work that we want Jonas to be placed at a pre-school. We never planned this to start off with, but eventually felt it was the best for everyone. Of course we went through bouts of guilt. More on how we came to this decision in a later post. But all I can say is, this burger of mine is enjoying being in "school" , his teachers adore him, and he simply loves manipulating them!

Settling myself back at work - I went back to work when Jonas turned 3 months old. It was hard...as I was bored to death at home, greatly in need of adult conversations...yet it pains me to be pulled away from that cute little thing (ok... not all the time la. When he gets into his moods... i wished he will be whisked away to some place far far away...hhahha). I've actually been given a new role. Something that I am quite familiar with, yet I have been feeling uncertain if I have the finesse to do good, especially with the need to be a mother too. Juggling, juggling, juggling. As a good friend puts it, I am just feeling nostalgic , and wishing why things can't be the way it was before I went on my maternity. Well...let me see how things go. At least I know I am still needed at work.

Hubs finally quit his job - For the longest time, Hwa was unhappy at work for reasons I cannot reveal . As his wife, it makes me upset to see him frustrated and tired every single day. And mind you, this has been going on for quite some time (years i would say) now. Hence, when he decided to pull the trigger and shot that letter over without any other jobs in sight, I couldn't be happier. Yes...we need to support the family, but I felt it is time for him to take a breather.... and while doing so look for another job... or even do something really different. The good news is, 2 days ago, he got a job offer which means everything is certainly looking pretty good.

Before both hwa and myself dig our heads into our new jobs... we will be jetting off for a short break away from little burger to rejuvenate and hopefully more prepared to take on the challenges at work and as a parent.

In the meantime, watch this space as I start to update more regularly! See ya when I get back!

Yilan for kids - Taiwan Travelogue

Our recent trip to Taiwan brought us to Yilan. Although we initially worried that it will be boring for the boy as it is more of a "back to nature" part of Taiwan, we enjoyed ourselves very much, and wished we spent more time there. Surprisingly, Yilan packs more fun for the kid than expected.

Here's some places you can check out if you are going down that way and I will let the pictures do the talking!

My thoughts on the Glenn Doman Learning Method

When I was invited to attend a baby learning seminar about the Glenn Doman Learning Method , I wasn't prepared to feel what I did after that.

There were fleeting thoughts in that 3 hours for me to leave my job to be at home with J.

I also had my heart swell with pride despite not having been the most conscientious mum in helping my son to learn. Yet the time he spent in school has helped him reach all his developmental and learning milestones.

Fun for kids in the West of Singapore- Part 1

My family moved to the western part of Singapore when I was 3 years old. For as long as I can remember , I have lived here, and will likely continue to for an even longer time.

At different points, people have asked me what's there to do here in the west as it seems so far away. The common comments I hear from friends while in school were "you live in tuas ah....the industrial area? " Or... "which kampong is that?".
